In March 2010, due to the steady economic decline and the lack of employment opportunities in our community, with a bleak local economy, in hopes of restoring community pride, Bonnieville employed New Cities Institute to help our citizens organize and begin to prepare a realistic vision for a more positive future.
As a direct result of the Community meetings, and the excitement generated by the community discussions, BOAZ {Bonnieville Opportunity Advancement Zone} was born, and with it, a revitalization and renewal of our community began. We, as a community began to formulate a strategic plan for success, several committees and teams were formed to address our community issues.
In June 2010, the BOAZ Image Committee received our second Flex-E-Grant from Brushy Fork & ARC to improve the town’s image and restore community pride by successfully completing beautification projects.
In January 2011, we received our third Flex-E-Grant from Brushy Fork and ARC to organize a Bonnieville Feasibility Study. The study was prepared by BRADD (Barren River Area Development) and contains city data, potential sources for our community development projects, workforce development information, trade area information and other important data.
